In theory, Konstantina, Panagiota and Vasilis were the winners in the ‘students’ category of Greek Label Awards 2023, co-organised by allpack magazine and ELSET, receiving a gift voucher of €400 during the GLOBAL–FOODTECH exhibition.
In practice, though, Konstantina Kefou, Panagiota Ligka and Vasilis Kalamarakis, students at the Department of Product and Systems Design, University of Western Macedonia, were the ‘gold sponsors’.
They did not keep the gift voucher for themselves but used it to buy a 65″ monitor, which will be placed in their school’s workshop to cover the present and future needs of students. They proved that, besides their main field of study, they also ‘study’ morals.
Even though we could write a lot, we are too moved by the initiative of those three young persons to put our thoughts into words.
We will only express our most sincere congratulations for their decision and our gratitude for the feelings that their act caused and the lesson they gave to all of us.
We must also congratulate the teachers in the coordination team, Dr Panagiotis Kyratsis and Dr Nikolaos Efkolidis, for the moral standards they teach to their students and, of course, all academic teachers for the characters they shape.
