Here follows a brief bio of Dr Christos E. Georgiou
Dr Christos E. Georgiou is the General Director of the Research Institute of the Federation of Industries of Greece. He studied Mechanical Engineering at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and has a PhD in Business Administration from the University of Patras.
He has been interested in management of family businesses, especially the crucial issue of succession, since 1998, when he met and began working together with his mentor Asterios G. Kefalas, a Greek-American professor of Management.
In 2013, they co-authored a book entitled ‘The succession process in family businesses’, the foreword of which was written by the former President of SEV (Hellenic Federation of Enterprises) Mr Theodoros Papalexopoulos. In 2015, the book was released in Cyprus.
Until February 2021, the book on succession was the only work in Greek dealing with the succession process in a family business. Since then, Dr Georgiou’s second book has been published: ‘Preparing for succession: a practical guide for forward-thinking family businesses’ (4D publishers, currently in its 2nd edition of March 2023).
Dr Georgiou has been invited by many institutions (Chambers, Business Associations, Universities etc.) in Greece and Cyprus, to present his method of properly planning and implementing a succession process.
